Announcement of Search for Editor-In-Chief
The Product Development and Management Association (PDMA) is seeking applications for the next Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Product Innovation Management (JPIM), the top Journal in the Innovation and New Product Development domain, to start in the position on January 1, 2019. The Editor serves a 3-year term (2019 – 2022). Currently, JPIM is published 6 times per year and receives approximately 500 submissions per year.
Interested candidates for Editor-in-Chief should familiarize themselves with JPIM and PDMA (www.PDMA.org) before considering applying. Interested individuals should prepare and submit a statement describing their vision for continuing the growth and development of the Journal, along with their qualifications for the position, evidence of administrative capability, an academic vita, and a statement indicating support from the employing institution. Selection of the Editor-in-Chief will be made by PDMA's Publications Committee. Finalists will be asked to participate in an interview with the Committee. All applications should be submitted before February 28, 2018, to Professor Abbie Griffin, Vice President of Publications for the PDMA, (firstname.lastname@example.org; 801-585-1772).
Duties of the Editor-in-Chief include appointing and managing the editorial staff and all editorial aspects of the Journal, working with PDMA and John Wiley and Sons Publishing to assure support from both organizations, and acting as liaison with other organizations to promote the Journal and with prospective authors to assure a stream of high-quality manuscripts. The Editor-in-Chief provides the contents of issues six times per year on a fixed schedule to John Wiley and Sons Publishing. The Editor-in-Chief serves without compensation, although a budget is available to defray travel and other direct expenses incurred to support journal operations.
The Editor must be a distinguished member of the new product development community and must be sensitive to the special requirements of publishing an international journal that welcomes contributions from authors with backgrounds across many business and technical disciplines. If not a current member of PDMA, the Editor and other members of the Editorial Team are expected to join the Association at the time of their appointment. The Editor-in-Chief currently serves as an ex officio member of PDMA's Board of Directors.
PDMA's Publications Committee performs an annual review of the Editor-in-Chief's performance. Subject to these reviews, the Editor-in-Chief is expected to serve a term of three years. This term is renewable once.
